Forma — Austin

Forma Skin Tightening in Austin

Needle-free radiofrequency for facial and neck firmness.

Forma is a non-invasive bipolar radiofrequency treatment for patients whose main concern is firmness and mild-to-moderate laxity of the face, jawline or neck. Controlled heating supports gradual collagen remodeling, with little to no social downtime and change that develops naturally over a series.

The treatment

What is Forma?

Forma delivers bipolar radiofrequency energy through an applicator that stays on the surface of the skin. The energy passes between the electrodes of that applicator, creating controlled thermal heating within the dermal and subdermal tissue.

The applicator continuously monitors skin temperature and adjusts energy delivery, so treatment stays within a controlled therapeutic range instead of relying on a single fixed setting.

The therapeutic goal is gradual collagen remodeling and improved tissue firmness. Forma is not a facelift, not a fat-removal treatment, not a resurfacing treatment, not a laser and not radiofrequency microneedling — and it does not tighten skin permanently.

How it works

Surface applicator to gradual firmness

The sequence below describes what the treatment is doing in the tissue while the applicator moves across the area.

  1. 01

    Surface applicator

A handheld applicator is moved over the treatment area. Nothing is inserted into the skin.

  2. 02

    Controlled bipolar RF heating

Radiofrequency energy passes between the electrodes of the applicator rather than through the body.

  3. 03

    Dermal thermal response

Controlled heating develops within the dermal and subdermal tissue while surface temperature is monitored continuously.

  4. 04

    Collagen remodeling

That thermal response is associated with gradual remodeling of the collagen that supports the skin.

  5. 05

    Gradual change in firmness

Improvement builds progressively across a series and continues as tissue responds. Individual results vary.

Candidacy

What is Forma best suited for?

Early jawline softening

The jawline looks less defined than it used to, without significant skin excess.

Mild jowling

Early softening at the corners of the lower face where support has started to change.

Neck laxity

Mild-to-moderate looseness or crepiness through the neck, without substantial submental fat.

Cheek firmness

Skin that feels less firm through the mid-face and cheeks.

Fine wrinkling with declining support

Fine surface wrinkling that appears alongside reduced structural firmness.

Lower-face softness

A general loss of crispness through the lower third of the face.

Tightening without needles

Patients who want an RF tightening option that does not break the skin surface.

Minimal downtime priority

Patients who need to return to work or social plans the same day.

Candidly: advanced laxity or significant skin excess may exceed what Forma can reasonably accomplish on its own. In that situation a more intensive modality — or a surgical consultation — is the honest answer, and we will say so.

Treatment selection

Why Grace doesn’t use one device for every kind of loose skin

Loose skin is not one problem. Surface aging, collagen loss, true laxity, texture and volume behave differently, and the mechanism that fits one is often wrong for another.

01

Forma

Mild-to-moderate firmness and laxity where a no-needle radiofrequency approach is desirable and downtime needs to stay minimal.

02

Morpheus8 Face

More intensive fractional RF remodeling, particularly when laxity overlaps with crepey texture, scarring or treatment at selected tissue depths.

03

MultiFrax 1550

Fractional dermal remodeling for fine lines, texture, crepey skin and collagen-related surface and dermal concerns.

04

MultiFrax 1927

More superficial treatment for pigment, photodamage and surface rejuvenation.

05

GentleYAG 1064

Non-invasive long-pulsed laser thermal remodeling when that mechanism fits the concern.

06

Spectra

Skin-quality and pigment-oriented 1064 nm applications using different pulse behavior.

“We choose the treatment based on what is creating the change you see—not simply which machine is available.”

Comparison

Forma vs Morpheus8

Both use bipolar radiofrequency, but they deliver it very differently — and neither is universally better than the other.

Forma

  • Bipolar radiofrequency delivered through a surface applicator
  • No needles and no puncture wounds
  • Broader controlled heating across the treated area
  • Little to no social downtime
  • Especially appropriate for firmness and mild-to-moderate laxity

Morpheus8

  • Fractional bipolar radiofrequency microneedling
  • Fine needles physically enter the tissue
  • Energy delivered at selected treatment depths
  • More intensive remodeling of tissue
  • Useful when laxity overlaps with texture, crepiness or scarring
  • Requires numbing and has greater recovery considerations

If firmness with minimal downtime is the priority, Forma may be a strong fit. If deeper or more intensive fractional remodeling is needed, Morpheus8 may make more sense.

Clinical evidence

What has actually been studied?

Forma-specific

Chawvavanich et al., Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2022

22 patients received four Forma treatment sessions approximately two weeks apart. Investigators reported statistically significant improvement in laxity assessments. Transient erythema immediately after treatment was common and no serious adverse effects were reported.

Forma-specific

Nelson, Beynet & Lask, Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, 2015

14 evaluable patients received four to six weekly treatments. Blinded evaluators observed improvement ranging from mild to significant, and no significant adverse events were reported. This was a small study, and manufacturer relationships disclosed by the authors should be read alongside the findings.

Forma-specific

Boisnic et al., Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, 2017

A human split-face tissue analysis reported increased dermal collagen content and synthesis following treatment. No statistically significant increase in elastin synthesis was found.

Broader radiofrequency evidence

Systematic reviews of non-invasive RF facial rejuvenation

Forma sits within a wider body of literature on non-invasive radiofrequency for facial rejuvenation, which generally reports modest, gradual improvement in skin laxity with a favorable safety profile. These reviews cover multiple radiofrequency devices and protocols — not every study included tested Forma.

Forma-specific clinical evidence is encouraging, but published studies are relatively small. Non-surgical tightening is gradual and individual outcomes vary.

The appointment

What treatment feels like

  • The applicator moves continuously over the treatment area rather than stamping in one place.
  • Controlled warmth builds gradually while skin temperature is monitored throughout.
  • No needles, no puncture wounds and no wound-care regimen afterward.
  • Normal activity can typically resume right away.

Forma is generally well tolerated, though comfort is individual and no treatment is universally pain-free.

Planning

Treatment course

  • Forma is commonly performed as a series rather than a single treatment.
  • The plan depends on laxity, tissue quality and your goals — not on a universal fixed protocol.
  • Change develops progressively, and collagen remodeling continues after the sessions are finished.
  • Maintenance may be appropriate, and because aging continues, results are not permanent.

Where a published study schedule is mentioned on this page, it describes that study’s protocol — not a mandatory Grace protocol.

Often a good fit

Who may be a good candidate

  • Mild-to-moderate skin laxity
  • Early jowling
  • Jawline softening
  • Neck laxity
  • A preference for non-invasive treatment
  • Minimal downtime as a priority

Another option may be better

When Forma isn’t the right answer

  • Significant skin excess is present
  • Substantial submental fat is the dominant issue
  • Texture or scarring is a major component of the concern
  • Surgical-level correction is the expectation

Why Grace

Why Grace for Forma?

A

Grace can compare Forma against several genuinely different tightening mechanisms rather than fitting every patient to one device.

B

The assessment starts with the concern and the tissue, not with a machine that was chosen before you arrived.

C

Morpheus8, MultiFrax, GentleYAG, Spectra and other modalities are available here when another mechanism is more appropriate.

D

If Forma is unlikely to produce the level of improvement you want, we will tell you that instead of selling a series that does not fit.
